Project specific automation with Airtable
Imagine designing all the electronic systems for a large chemical factory. Imagine the thousands of parts involved, the evolving requirements of each those parts. Imagine building the installations with parts coming from all over the world. And now imagine that you have to stay within budget and keep track of the costs of all those parts...
For the project management team of Honeywell this was their daily challenge. How to manage an inventory log and procurement log through each of the phases of this project. Usually this is done with couple of spreadsheets, but with project of this size, with so many people that just doesn't cut it anymore.
Through a co-creation process, Appalot has helped Honeywell to set up a system in Airtable, that allows the team to reconcile all the different datasources into one dashboard that gives insights into the actual state of the material inventory and the cost developments throughout the project.
For one project updating the ERP system would not be workable because of the costs and the amount of time it would have taken to realise these changes. With a no-code platform such as Airtable this was feasible to build within a month, because of its out-of-the-box database capabilities and user-friendliness. Actually the designing of the system proved to be a bigger challenge than the building of the solution itself.
Large projects often have specific needs and challenges. With no-code platforms it has become possible, and cost-effective, to create a set of solutions tailored to one project. So you can stay in control, even with very large projects. Interested in automating specific projects? Drop us a line below, we're happy to share our thoughts!
